Best of the bestsellers

I wonder if Stieg Larsson, when he was writing his books about the seriously hardcore Lisbeth Salander, ever realized how successful his books were going to be.  Although there is now only three out of the proposed ten books, Larsson has become a household name for many avid readers.  And even those who don’t read know about these books.  So it didn’t really surprise me when I came across the Maclean’s Bestsellers list and found that “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest” has been #1 on the list since May 27, 2010.  And with movie adaptations in the works both from Nordisk Film and Hollywood, I predict that it will stay there for a few more weeks yet.  If you are planning on seeing this movie trilogy, a word of warning.  From what I’ve read, there are some pretty graphic scenes (and here is a “well duh” moment for those who have read the books) in the Swedish adaptation from Nordisk Films.  If you aren’t into the gore and the plain disturbing, then apparently the Hollywood version coming out will be more suited to your tastes; albeit without the woman touted as becoming Lisbeth, Noomi Rapace.
