Justin Cronin is the author of “The Passage”, the science fiction/mild horror book that is taking the public by storm. He is a graduate of Harvard University and the Iowa Writers Workshop. His previous books , “Mary and O’Neil” and “The Summer Guest”, won him small awards.
Now, everyone wants to know how he came up with the premise for “The Passage”. In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Cronin states that it was his daughter who challenged him to write an interesting book because she was worried that his previous books were a bit dull (I haven’t read them so I am unable to give an opinion). When he asked her what he should write about instead she replied with “‘Write a story about a girl who saves the world.’” So began the makings of “The Passage”.
